Mission: Connecting Youth’s Passion

We believe that students can use their passion in a way to make a positive impact in our global community.

As they are following their passions, they gain leadership skills that will help them in their future careers.

Our Story:

Kevin Hoang and Weina Chen started Something Real Productions when they were seniors in high school. They were both inspired by the Invisible Children and wanted to do something to end child soldiers in Northern Uganda. However, Kevin Hoang wanted to use his passion in some way to help. After some time, Kevin partnered up with Weina Chen to throw the first b-boy battle at their high school called “Back to Reality”.  It derived from “Reality Check”. It was inspired by a man name Alex Lek who threw the very first Invisible Children b-boy battle in Seattle.

After Back to Reality, Kevin Hoang started to believe that his passion for dance can be used to make a change in the world. When we created Something Real Productions, we wanted to create a community of students to connect their passion with a mission.
